Pulse Feast: Did you join the celebrations on January 6th?

Pulse Feast was a success on January 6, with over 140 events taking place globally. A full Pulse Feast Report is available online.

In a noteworthy moment, the Singapore Pulses Association Limited was inaugurated and formed on 6th Jan 2016 at the Singapore Cricket Club. All the traders came together and had a Pulse Feast to celebrate the occasion.

The second event by the Singapore Pulses Association celebrated IYP during Pungal festival on January 8by distributing pulses at the Perumal temple in Singapore. It was organised by Little India Shop owners association (LISHA).

IYP Celebration in Myanmar

A celebration of the United Nation’s International Year of Pulses took place at the Bayintnaung Commodity Exchange, in Myanmar. More information available here.

Inaugural Launch of IYP2016, Turkey
January 23, 2016

Under the auspices of the Republic of Turkey’s Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock, the Turkey inaugural launch of the International Year of Pulses was held by Mediterranean Cereal, Pulse, Oily Seeds & Derivatives Exporters’ Association in Mersin province at MEA headquarters. 120 different type of dishes were exhibited with approximately 400 people in attendance. More than 100 newspapers and websites helped cover nationwise and locally. Several columnists mentioned IYP activities.

West Coast Media/Blogger Pulses Culinary Immersion
January 23 – 25, 2016 – St. Helena, California

The 2.5-day Pulses Immersion at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley served as the official “West Coast” launch for the International Year of Pulses. It was also deep-dive educational event for cooking and baking bloggers, test kitchen editors, and health/nutrition influencers. Read the event recap here.

Australian Launch Gala Dinner

A pulsating gala evening of fine local food & wine, first class entertainment and a lively auction took place at the Melbourne Museum. More information available here.

Launch of IYP in France
February 4, 2016 – Ministry of Agriculture, Paris

The French National Federation of Pulse Products (Fédération Nationale du Légume Sec – FNLS) hosted a press conference on February 4, 2016 at the Ministry of Agriculture in Paris to officially launch the International Year of Pulses in France including representatives of FAO. 10-13 February 2016, Nuremberg, Germany

A Forum on “2016 – UN’s Year of Pulses at the organic pulse” will take place February 11th to discuss the importance of pulses, presenting examples from around the world. Find out who the speakers are and more here.
